yahoo.co.jp vs. google.co.jp

Why the yahoo.co.jp has more visitors than googe.co.jp?
According to Alexa, yahoo.co.jp is ranked as #1 in Japan, while google.co.jp has the 2nd place. This can lead us to the conclusion that yahoo.co.jp somehow beats the Google's search engine. However, if we compare "Where people go on Yahoo.co.jp " and "Where people go on Google.co.jp" we can notice the big difference. We see that 24 % of visitors goes to the auctions.yahoo.co.jp page, 18 % goes for the search.yahoo.co.jp, and almost the same number goes for yahoo.co.jp, while 87 % of google.co.jp visitors use the same page, as I guess, for the search.
What about the numbers of visitors each site has? If we can trust the data captured from the www.statbrain.com we can get the next results:
  • yahoo.co.jp- 12,936,980 visits per day
  • google.co.jp- 8,199,074 visits per day
Let's make a very rough calculation:
Suppose that visitors of yahoo.co.jp and search.co.jp visited the sites to search. Then we have .36*12,936,980= 4,657,313 visits per day for the search;
Similarly, we can calculate for the google.co.jp, and we have 7,133,194 visits per day.
To conclude, these calculations are very rough and, maybe, totally wrong, yet I believe that the Google's search engine is still making good in Japan.
